🔑Sharepoint-Wide Permissions

Let's say you hired a new VP of Finance and want to ensure they have full access across all Drivepoin plans. The simplest option is to give them Sharepoint-wide permissions.

Sharepoint wide permissions allow a person to see all folders and documents that are stored in Sharepoint. In order to create folder-specific groups and manage those, please navigate to this section. If you are not sure how to think about Sharepoint-wide permissions, jump to our FAQ.

Granting someone Sharepoint-wide permissions

1. Open your Sharepoint company site

2. Click on "Documents" on the top left

Click on All Members on the top right.

1. Click on "Add Members"

2. Type in the email address

If you cannot add users from the Sharepoint UI, you can add them via Outlook as well.

1. Type in the email address of the person you would like to add

1. Click "Add"

2. Success - you have added a member. They will have Sharepoint wide access to your company meaning that they are able to see every file and folder you are creating.

FAQ

How should I think about Sharepoint-wide permissions?

We like to think of it as someone in an "admin" or "exec" role at your company. For example, if you just hired a new VP of Finance or COO, it might make sense to add them to the entire Sharepoint site so that they have visibility across different departments' work (and folders). On the other side, you should probably not add a Supply Chain analyst to the Sharepoint site but rather to the "Demand Planning Team" so that they only see the files related to their work instead of company-wide budgets, scenarios and the live model.
