# Financial Account Mapping

This is how your raw financial data from QuickBooks or NetSuite gets structured into your Drivepoint SmartModels™.

We've rebuilt this experience from the ground up — with AI-powered auto-mapping, a faster approval workflow, and a cleaner chart of accounts that gives you more flexibility in how your financials are organized.

### How It Works

When you open the **Account Mapping** tab in the Drivepoint web app, you'll see your full chart of accounts with two columns to map: **Channel** and **Drivepoint Category**. These two fields work together — Channel captures where the transaction happened, and Drivepoint Category captures what type of financial line item it is. They recombine when your data is written into the model.

Drivepoint's auto-mapping algorithm takes a first pass at categorizing your accounts. You'll see three confidence levels:

* **Blue** — High confidence. The algorithm is fairly sure about this mapping. Review and approve.
* **Orange** — Low confidence. The algorithm made a guess but it needs your review.
* **Unmapped** — Very low confidence. The algorithm didn't attempt a mapping. You'll need to map these manually.

### Approving Your Mappings

Your accounts are organized into two tabs:

* **Needs Approval** — Accounts that haven't been reviewed yet, including auto-mapped suggestions and unmapped accounts.
* **Live Mappings** — Accounts you've already approved. These are the mappings actively used in your model when importing financial data.

To approve a mapping, select the row and press **Enter** to confirm and move to the next account. You can also click the approve button on individual rows. Once you've reviewed everything, click **Save All** to apply your approved mappings.

When you save, Drivepoint performs a full financial data import using the most recent data from your accounting system. This isn't just a label change — your model gets updated with fresh data under the new chart of accounts.

### Mapping Subtotals and Rollup Accounts

Some accounts in your chart of accounts are subtotals or rollups that don't represent actual transactions — they're just structural. For these, map them to ***None-None***.

*None-None* tells Drivepoint that this account is intentionally excluded from categorization. It won't be included in your financial model, and it won't trigger unmapped account notifications during future data imports.

### For Existing Customers: Migration

If you're an existing Drivepoint customer, you'll see a migration screen the first time you visit the Account Mapping tab. The system automatically converts your existing mappings to the updated chart of accounts.

In most cases, your mappings will carry over cleanly and you'll just need to review and approve. Some accounts — particularly unusual ones like APIC or complex NetSuite rollups — may need manual attention.

**Your data is safe during this process.** Nothing changes in your model until you explicitly approve and save your mappings. At that point, Drivepoint pulls the latest data from your accounting system and writes it into your model under the new chart of accounts.

### FAQ

**Why do I have to re-map my accounts?** We've built a new, standardized chart of accounts that's more flexible and accurate. The system automatically converts your existing mappings — in most cases, you'll just need to review and approve.

**Will I lose my existing data?** No. Your existing model and data stay intact until you explicitly approve and apply the new mappings. At that point, we perform a fresh data import with the most recent data from your accounting system.

**What does "None-None" mean?** It means the account is intentionally not mapped to a Drivepoint account or category. This is useful for subtotal or rollup accounts. Mapping to Non-None prevents the system from flagging them as unmapped.

**How long does this take?** For most customers, the review and approval process takes 10–20 minutes. The data import itself runs in the background.

**What about Revenue by Channel, Expenses by Department, and other dimensional imports?** Dimensional imports are coming soon. Financial Account Mapping currently covers your core financial data import (R-GL).

**Can I undo this?** Once you apply the new mappings, the system imports fresh data under the new chart of accounts. There is no automatic revert. If something looks off, reach out to your CS lead and we'll work through it together.

**I have an account that's showing as unmapped but I don't think it needs to be mapped. What do I do?** Map it to None-None and click approve. This tells Drivepoint you've reviewed it and intentionally excluded it.
